Courage is not the absence of fear. It is the confronting and controlling of fear while navigating through peril and facing what frightens us. There can be no growth, no experiences to glean, no accomplishments to earn without facing our fears, great and small. Our courage could not exist without our fears. We could never have become what we are today, if we never triumphed over what frightened us yesterday. We will never become more than what we are now, if we allow our fears to define us in the present. So no, Courage is not the absence of fear, it is the willful defying of it.
