And so here we are...
They tell you to get a job and be respectable. You get a job and are respectable but you aren't respected. They tell you to work hard to make your dreams come true. You work hard but your dreams don't come true. They tell you that you need money to support your family. You make money but it's never enough to support your family. They tell you to stop complaining about injustice. You stop complaining about injustice and become a willing victim. They tell you to make more money to solve your problems. You make more money but it still is never enough to solve your problems. They tell you to follow the law. But those who create and enforce the laws don't follow the laws they create and enforce. They tell you stop talking about racism because talking about it makes it worse. You stop talking about racism and it becomes worse. They tell you to vote because you can't make change if you don't and that your vote matters. You vote and the electoral College puts party over principle and the popular vote which proves that your vote, infact, doesn't matter. They raise the minimum wage making you feel like maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to get ahead. Then prices go up as the minimum wage goes up, so you really haven't gained anything and getting ahead remains a pipe dream. They take money from your paycheck for State and Federal taxes and Social Security. When you need social security, they stole it, used it, never paid it back and call you a "free loader" looking for a hand out. An African-American was President of the United States for two terms. Politicians, the rich, corporations, Racists and the ignorant voted for a rich, racist, inarticulate, corporate, elitist demogogue with no ability or experience to govern and no inkling of the needs of the American people as a unified nation, because an African-American was President of the United States for two terms.
And so...
here we find ourselves on the crumbling, raggedy edge of tomorrow. What shall we do?
We shall survive.
Like our ancestors, we must endure. We must never forget. We must fight for our future. We must survive. We must survive and wade in the waters of inequity in this dark night of the soul until we reach the light of freedom, equality, equity, respect, genuine justice and reciprocity. Forgiveness is not possible and no healing can occur if guilt or hurtful past actions are not accepted. Rather than wait for hate, greed, evil, pain, oppression and sorrow to heal itself or us for that matter, let us heal ourselves. Let your heart's be the lamp that guides others through the night, untill we all embrace the truth and finally arrive to what is healing, forgiving and right.
Keep fighting. Not with each other, but for each other. Keep fighting not to oppress, but against the oppressor. Keep fighting. The new revolution is through evolution for as our oppressors can only revolve, we like our ancestors before us have it within us to evolve. Keep fighting. Not for the Slave Masters or our enslavement to a system designed to crush our very soul, but for the emancipation of all who are enslaved by the Machiavellian system and it's socioeconomic, religious, racially biased, elitist, manipulative strategies designed to oppress us all.
Like our ancestors before us, we will survive. We must survive.
We always do.
